Paid Memberships Pro <= 2.9.11 - Authenticated (Subscriber+) SQL Injection via Shortcodes

7.7
Improper Neutralization of Special Elements used in an SQL Command ('SQL Injection')
CVE CVE-2023-0631
CVSS 7.7 (High)
Publicly Published February 28, 2023
Last Updated January 22, 2024
Researcher Marc-Alexandre Montpas

Description

The Paid Memberships Pro plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to generic SQL Injection via the 'membership' shortcode in versions up to, and including, 2.9.11 due to insufficient escaping on the user supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers with subscriber-level access, and above, to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database.
