Announcing the WordPress Security Learning Center

This entry was posted in General Security, WordPress Security on December 16, 2015 by Mark Maunder   21 Replies

Dear WordPress Community,

Today we have something amazing to share with you. Earlier this year we started a project to understand more about you and your needs. The site owners who use WordPress to run your personal and business websites.

What we discovered is that you are diverse individuals who rely heavily on WordPress and your websites to help you do the things that you are passionate about. You are also constantly learning and you have a strong desire to learn more about WordPress security to empower yourselves.

About 4 months ago we decided to deliver what the community clearly needs: A WordPress Security Learning Center. We all put our noses to the grindstone and worked as quickly and effectively as we could. We brought in video producers, designers, copywriters and security experts from around the community.

Today we are ready to announce the completion and official launch of our WordPress Security Learning Center.

The Learning Center starts with a solid introduction to WordPress security. Then it provides intermediate resources for those who want to delve a little deeper, including helping you understand security threats, and how to secure your working environment.

Our advanced content includes a detailed introduction to writing secure PHP code for developers. We have included screencasts and content showing how vulnerabilities are accidentally created, how they are exploited and how to fix them and avoid them in future. We cover XSS vulnerabilities, SQL Injection, File Upload vulnerabilities and more.

Then we went even further and created a few extras like a detailed introduction to networking and the OSI model complete with an awesome video, an explanation of how Tor works, how social engineering works and much more.

We are giving this resource away free to the community. There’s no catch. The content is all yours and there’s no “offer”, signup, subscription or anything like that – you don’t even have to give us your email address.

Simply visit our WordPress Security Learning Center now to get started learning how to secure your WordPress website, your online presence and your identity right now.

Over the coming weeks I will publish blog posts talking about some of the individual articles in the learning center and going into a bit more depth on some topics. We hope you enjoy using the Learning Center as much as we have enjoyed creating it. We look forward to regularly adding new content to help keep the community secure.

As I mentioned, this was an incredibly ambitious project and I’d like to thank our team and everyone involved, from our marketing lead to our developers who vetted the content and the designers, videographers, developers who implemented the project and everyone else involved. You know who you are and you absolutely rock. Thanks guys!!

Mark Maunder – Wordfence Founder/CEO.
